Maryland State Inspection in Libertytown, MD
The Importance of Car Inspection — Dynamic Automotive
Have you recently purchased a vehicle, have a vehicle’s title changed, or brought a vehicle over from another state? In Maryland, you are required to get your vehicle inspected if the answer to one of those questions is yes. To get a state certification on your vehicle, it must be inspected by an authorized station. At Dynamic Automotive in Libertytown, Maryland, we have an inspection station for you to check out. Our team of ASE Certified Master Technicians has the expertise and latest in electronic equipment to make your inspection run as efficiently as possible. As an aside, if your vehicle fails its initial inspection, you will have 30 days or 1000 miles to get it repaired and re-inspected. If you wait more than 30 days and put more than 1000 miles on the vehicle, it will need a complete inspection. Your vehicle can not register with the state until this happens. Below, we’ll tell you what you can expect for a Maryland vehicle inspection, and what are some of the reasons why it may fail inspection.
Getting Your Vehicle Inspected
When your vehicle enters our shop, one of our technicians will run a thorough system of diagnostic checks on your vehicle's components. This includes everything from alignment, suspension, brakes, transmission, emissions, and so on. In essence, your vehicle will be subject to a total diagnostic examination, much in the same way if the vehicle is coming in for a normal service. If any component fails during the inspection, the vehicle fails the test. You may ask yourself, “why did my vehicle not pass the inspection when only one component fails?” Maryland has one of the most rigorous safety inspections in all of the United States. Since 2016, the state has used the Maryland Safety Inspection System (MSI). The MSI is designed to make the inspection run quicker. One key advantage is once the inspection is done, it is stored in a database. Even if you take it to a different shop the first go around, we’ll be able to see why they failed your vehicle. We can then zero in on those trouble areas, and get you back on your way.
Vehicle Certification And Road Worthiness
Once your vehicle has passed the inspection, a certificate is sent to Maryland’s Motor Vehicle Association. After which, you will receive a Certificate Of Inspection, a requirement before obtaining the title from the state. The title will be mailed to you once the relevant forms are signed. Why is this good news for you? As long as you own the vehicle going forward, you’ll never have to re-inspect it. Don’t fret if your vehicle fails the inspection the first time. That is a common occurrence. If you have any questions about inspections, the MSI, MVA, or would like to schedule an appointment, please don’t hesitate to call us at (301) 694-6250.
