Paws and Claws 5K and 1 Mile Walk

5k PAWS AND CLAWS What a great day with perfect weather to have the 4th Annual Paws for Claws 5K and 1 Mile Walk to help raise funds for Animal Welfare League of Frederick County (AWLFC).  When I was asked if Dynamic Automotive would help sponsor the event it was a given that we would help. Not only did I want to help sponsor I wanted to participate in this important event for needy dogs and cats in Frederick County. The race course took us through beautiful and historic Frederick, MD centralized around Baker Park. The best part was that you could bring your best friend along with you. You could feel the excitement as we all lined up for the start of the race. The runners were ready but nothing compared to the doggies. They were pumped up and when the command was given you would hear their excitement with the whelps and barks from many. What a great way to start a Saturday morning. I was nowhere near the front but I finished and I was happy with my time. It was a great way to not only help sponsor but more importantly it was enjoyable to give some time to a great cause. Race winners were Tim Miller with a time of 16:53 and Elizabeth Hollis coming in at 21:37. The fastest four legged runner was Gus and Ziggy was the runner up. In total 353 runners and walkers joined the cause to help raise awareness and approximately $11,000. These monies will help AWLFC continue their work as a non-profit, no kill cat and dog rescue in Frederick County. AWLFC has many programs to help the community including assistants with feral cats through Fixing Frederic5K RUNNER DOGk Felines, foster programs, financial assistance and a community food bank to help owners keep pets in their homes. You can help AWLFC by adopting, donations and volunteering. There are a few events coming up that everyone can support. Stop by Rita’s July 11 or August 8th between 6pm and 8pm and mention “Animal Welfare League” and a portion of your receipt will be donated. Come out August 28th for the 6th annual K9’s in the Vines at Linganore Winecellars for afternoon filled with fun for both you and your dog.   About Animal Welfare League of Frederick County The AWLFC was established as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization in 2001.
